Mrkfilms.com is the website for the documentary and experimental films made by award winning Chicago filmmaker Mark Mamalakis. Currently the site contains the film,The Art of Haiti, but more will be added including documentaries: The Chicago Stockyards, Maxwell Street Blues, Old Age, Portrait of a Greek Village, The Art of Alejandro Romero, Janitzio - Day of the Dead, as well as several award winning experimental shorts: Portrait of a Filmmaker, Subway, and The Bridge.
Mamalakis received a B.A. in Film from Columbia College, Chicago and an M.A. from the University of Illinois, Chicago where he specialized in ethnographic film studies. He was also a student in the Anthropology on Film course taught by Jean Rouch at Harvard University in '82. Mark Mamalakis is a member of the Directors Guild of America.
